Wireless Networks on Mobile Devices

Wireless Connection in iOS

1.) Open Settings

  • App symbols vary depending on the version of the operating system (left iOS 6, right iOS 8). But most of the configuration steps are the same.

2.) Select Wi-Fi network

3.) Select On to enable Wi-Fi and then select uzh network

CARE! If you're a UZH member, we recommend you use the secure (encrypted) "uzh" network rather than the unencrypted network "public."

4.) Enter user data and connect

  • Username: Your UZH short name
  • Password: Your WiFi password
  • Tap Join.

5.) Accept unverified certificate

6.) WiFi connection status

  • An active WiFi connection is shown in the menu bar with a "radio wave" icon.

Wi-Fi Connection in Android

1.) Open Settings

  • Left: The app symbol for Settings in Android 2
  • Right: Possible app symbols for Settings in Android 6

2.) Select wireless/WiFi

  • Android 2: Wireless and networks > Wi-Fi settings.
  • Android 6: Under Wireless & networks select Wi-Fi.

3.) Turn Wi-Fi on and then select uzh network

4.) Specify properties and user information for uzh network

  • EAP method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
  • Identity: Your UZH short name
  • Password: Your WiFi password
  • Android 6: IPv4 settings: DHCP
  • Tap Connect.

If not all the fields are visible, scroll further down (Android 2) or open the Advanced options dropdown menu (Android 6).

5.) WiFi connection status
